Definition: What is Laser Liposuction?
Laser Liposuction is a procedure whereby fat is removed from the body so that the body can be contoured, and an aesthetically pleasing result can be obtained.

Who is the ideal Candidate for Laser Liposuction?
The ideal candidate for laser liposuction is a 70-75kg person, with a BMI of 25-30.
Overweight and obese patients do not benefit from Laser Liposuction, as if they do not maintain astrict diet, the fat can return faster.
What sites can be treated?
Ideally, Laser Liposuction is done on the following sites:
~ Abdomen
~ Love Handles
~ Arms
~ Legs
~ Chin
~ Male Breast
~ Buttocks
How is the procedure done?
The procedure is done using Tumescent Anasthesia. The big advantage is that Tumescent Anasthesia is a form of local anesthetic, and no general anesthetic is needed. It is a procedure that can be done in the doctor’s rooms, and this helps bring down the costs when compared to traditional liposuction.
How much fat is removed?
The amount of fat removed varies according to the area. However, not more than 2kg – 2.5kg of fat is removed per session.
What are the side effects?
The following side effects can be expected:
Oozing: Oozing of fluid usually lasts +/- 3 days. However, proper compression is used so that the patient can return to work the next day.
Infection: Is very rare.
Pain is relatively rare as the tumescent anesthetic usually masks any pain.
How is the procedure performed?
After the initial consultation with the doctor, in which everything is explained to the patient, the Nd Yag Laser is used to melt the fat. The entire procedure can take from 3-5 hours, depending on the area involved.
